The Project brings solar lights and learning materials to underserved communities in Liberia’s Carbadae area.

The Carbadae Apoliebo Organization has launched the first phase of a rural electrification project aimed at improving lighting, education and security in several communities in Liberia’s Wacaba Statutory District.
The initiative, led by CAPO executive chairman Sennay Carlor III and co-chairman Alphonso B. Cole, focuses on distributing solar-powered lights to underserved towns and villages across the district.
At the launch ceremony in Chebior Town, CAPO also donated educational materials and books to students, drawing praise from residents who described the gesture as a welcome boost for community development.
In the first phase, solar lights were handed over to Barduway Town, Shadee Town, Butt Nacky Village, Miles 48 Community, Tacti Village, Gblayee Town, Sanquine Junction and Pyne Town.
Speaking at a turnover ceremony in Shadee Town, Carlor reaffirmed CAPO’s commitment to working with residents and supporting development across Carbadae communities in District #3, Sinoe County.
He explained that the project was introduced to address persistent challenges in rural areas, including poor access to electricity, insecurity at night and barriers to learning for students.
Despite logistical and financial constraints, he noted that CAPO was able to complete the first phase with support from partners and stakeholders.
Carlor added that the second phase would soon expand the project to all communities in Carbadae.
He also acknowledged the support of Crayton Old Man Duncan, whom he credited with making important contributions to the initiative.
Calling on citizens to take an active role in local development, he urged them to support both government and elected leaders in community efforts.
Residents, youth groups, women leaders and traditional authorities welcomed the project, describing it as a major step towards rural transformation in the district.
Wacaba Statutory District superintendent Kwekue Queeley commended CAPO for what he described as a timely and impactful intervention.
