A technical fault has triggered a widespread Abuja blackout, affecting embassies, hotels, government offices and the airport as restoration work continues.

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has confirmed a power outage affecting several parts of Abuja, including diplomatic missions, hotels, government buildings and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
In a notice posted on its verified X account on Saturday, the company said the blackout was caused by a technical fault.
Areas affected include Bolingo Hotel, Wada Maida Building, which houses the headquarters of the News Agency of Nigeria, the Sudan and Egypt embassies, Envoy Hotel, the European Union embassy, the National Planning Commission and the National Hospital.
The outage also affected the Turkish, Pakistan and India embassies, as well as parts of Garki, Asokoro, Jabi, Lugbe and other nearby locations. AEDC listed several streets and facilities within the impacted areas, including Garki Market, Treasury House, Karibu Hotel, Customs Quarters, Aviation Village and Nicomsat.
According to AEDC, the technical team of the Transmission Company of Nigeria is already working to restore electricity supply.
The company apologised for the disruption and thanked customers for their patience and understanding.
