Subsidiaries of Dangote Group have expanded gas supply agreements with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to support expansion across refining, fertiliser and cement operations, in line with Nigeria’s push to scale natural gas supply for industrial growth.

Three subsidiaries of Dangote Group have expanded gas supply agreements with units of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to support ongoing expansion programmes across refining, fertiliser and cement operations.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery, Dangote Fertiliser Plant and Dangote Cement Plc said the contracts were signed with Nigerian Gas Marketing Limited and NNPCL Gas Infrastructure Company at the Nigeria Gas Master Plan 2026 event held in Abuja. The companies did not disclose the volumes covered by the agreements.
The deals align with Nigeria’s drive to position natural gas as a transition fuel for industrial growth and cleaner energy use, coming shortly after the launch of the Nigeria Gas Master Plan, which targets improvements in gas infrastructure, supply reliability and investment mobilisation across the gas value chain.
Under the master plan, Nigeria aims to raise gas production to 10 billion cubic feet per day by 2027, from about 8 billion cubic feet per day currently, and further increase output to 12 billion cubic feet per day by 2030, with over $60 billion in planned investments across upstream, midstream and downstream gas infrastructure.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, said the plan marks a shift from policy formulation to execution, adding that Nigeria’s key challenge lies in converting its gas reserves into reliable supply and economic value.
Meanwhile, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, said the programme is designed to boost national gas production, optimise costs, attract new investment and strengthen gas supply to domestic and industrial users.
