NASENI and the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC) have entered a agreement to jointly advance Nigeria’s energy transition.

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s energy transition and expanding the country’s green industrialisation drive.
The agreement creates a coordinated framework that enables both institutions to jointly design and implement programmes focused on renewable energy deployment, carbon market readiness, and the adoption of low-carbon technologies across critical sectors of the economy.
Under the partnership, NASENI’s engineering and technology expertise will be strategically aligned with the NCCC’s climate governance mandate to deliver science-driven, practical solutions that support Nigeria’s national climate commitments.
The MoU also provides a platform for collaboration on research, capacity building, data generation, and pilot projects that can fast-track the country’s transition to clean energy systems while unlocking green jobs and new investment opportunities. Officials say the synergy is expected to enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness in emerging green industries such as electric mobility, solar manufacturing, waste-to-energy, and climate-smart agriculture.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, leaders of both agencies reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that Nigeria’s climate and energy policies translate into measurable outcomes and sustainable socio-economic benefits for citizens.
