Tanzania Restores Power After Nationwide Blackout

Reliable electricity is important for homes, hospitals, schools and businesses. A fault on a national power grid can stop many daily activities until engineers restore supply. That was the situation in Tanzania after a technical problem disrupted electricity service.

Tanzania's electricity company, TANESCO, has apologised to customers after a nationwide power outage caused by a fault in the National Electricity Grid System.

The blackout started at about 1:00 a.m. on Saturday. The fault cut electricity to all parts of the country connected to the national grid.

The utility later confirmed that engineers worked on the problem and restored electricity to every affected region on Sunday.

The company expressed regret over the disruption and thanked customers for their patience while repair work lasted.

Power returns after emergency repair work

TANESCO said the nationwide outage happened because of a technical fault on the National Electricity Grid System.

The company said its technical team responded immediately to find the cause of the problem and restore supply safely.

A statement signed by the Director of Communications and Customer Service, Irene Gowelle, confirmed that electricity had returned to all regions supplied by the national grid.

The statement said power supply had been restored in every affected area after repair work was completed.

Many electricity users shared their frustration on social media while the outage lasted. Some complained about the effect on homes and businesses, while others asked the company to restore supply quickly.

After electricity returned, TANESCO informed customers that service had resumed nationwide.

The company ended its message with an apology for the inconvenience and thanked the public for their understanding during the unexpected disruption.
