Electricity supply in parts of the North-East will remain unstable as TCN continues work on the Jos–Bauchi–Gombe transmission line through the end of June.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has extended maintenance on the Jos–Bauchi–Gombe 330kV single-circuit transmission line, saying the work will continue until 30 June 2026 as contractors complete the Optical Ground Wire installation along the corridor.
In a statement signed by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the company said the extension became necessary to finish the 276-kilometre project. The maintenance will affect electricity supply to customers served by Yola Electricity Distribution Company and Jos Electricity Distribution Company in Bauchi, Gombe, Damaturu and Maiduguri.
TCN said affected areas will get limited power between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. from Thursdays to Sundays during the maintenance period. Yola, Jalingo and neighbouring communities will remain without electricity during outage hours, with supply restored at the end of each day’s work.
The company apologised for the inconvenience and said efforts are being intensified to complete the project within the scheduled timeframe. It added that the OPGW installation is expected to improve grid monitoring, strengthen operational efficiency and make transmission more reliable across the affected areas.
Residents in Taraba have already been living with unstable electricity for more than a month, a situation that has disrupted small businesses in the state.
