Ghana Gas restores supply after a plant fault, highlighting the importance of system resilience and rapid response in maintaining stable electricity generation.

The Ghana National Gas Company has restored gas supply to thermal power plants following a technical fault that triggered power outages in parts of Ghana.
The disruption, which occurred on April 15, was traced to a complete failure of the Burner Management System controller for the Heat Medium System at one of the company’s processing plants.
The fault led to a temporary shutdown of operations and interrupted gas supply to power stations, resulting in intermittent electricity supply across affected areas.
In response, the company deployed engineers who restored operations using a manual system while awaiting the replacement of the damaged component.
Head of Corporate Affairs at the company, Richard Ernest Kirk-Mensah, said the plant resumed operations by 8 p.m. on the day of the incident and is currently supplying about 115 million standard cubic feet of gas to power producers.
He assured the public that there was no cause for alarm, noting that a replacement component had already been procured and would soon be installed to restore full automated operations.
Kirk-Mensah added that the swift response by the technical team ensured minimal disruption and stabilised gas supply to the power sector.
