Sahara Group will take part in the 9th Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) 2026, scheduled for February 2–5 in Abuja, with discussions set to focus on energy security, policy coordination and sector resilience.
The summit, themed “Energy for Peace and Prosperity: Securing Our Shared Future,” convenes policymakers, investors and industry leaders to examine Africa’s energy challenges and investment priorities.
Sahara Group’s engagement at the event builds on its footprint across Africa’s energy value chain, spanning energy access, operational efficiency and sector competitiveness.
According to Bethel Obioma, Head of Corporate Communications at Sahara Group, the summit provides a platform for dialogue and coordination around strengthening Africa’s energy systems and long-term sustainability.
Across multiple sessions, Sahara Group’s delegation is expected to contribute to discussions on regulatory alignment, local enterprise growth and human capital development, with particular emphasis on upstream operations.
Technical and commercial executives from Sahara Group and its upstream subsidiary, Asharami Energy, will feature on panels addressing local content development, policy harmonisation and gas-driven industrialisation.
Leste Aihevba, Chief Technical Officer at Asharami Energy, is to appear on the programme for a session examining indigenous capacity development, local service ecosystems and partnership models within Africa’s energy sector. Dr Tosin Etomi, Head of Commercial and Planning at Asharami Energy, is listed among speakers addressing regulatory coordination and regional integration to support cross-border energy investment.
Gas-focused discussions at the summit will also include contributions from Mariah Lucciano-Gabriel, Head of Integrated Gas Ventures at Asharami Energy, with emphasis on natural gas as a driver of industrial growth, energy access expansion and transition pathways.
