The project, developed under a 25-year BOO model, will expand renewable energy capacity and strengthen Egypt’s power infrastructure.

Orascom Construction PLC has announced plans to develop a 900-megawatt wind farm in Egypt as part of a consortium with Aeolus and ENGIE.
The project follows the signing of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) and will be located near Ras Shokeir in the Gulf of Suez.
In a statement published by Orascom Construction and seen by AEP, the wind farm will be executed under a 25-year Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model, with Orascom Construction holding a 25% stake. Aeolus, an African renewable energy platform backed by Toyota Tsusho Corporation, will hold 40%, while ENGIE will control the remaining 35%.
In addition to its equity role, Orascom Construction will carry out all civil and electrical works related to the project’s balance of plant and supply selected local components.
The project is expected to reach financial close by early third quarter of 2026. This marks the consortium’s third wind energy project, building on two existing BOO wind farms with a combined capacity of 912.5MW, both completed ahead of schedule.
Once completed, the new development will increase Orascom Construction’s total wind power capacity to 1.8 gigawatts. It will also strengthen the company’s concessions portfolio, which spans renewable energy, water, and logistics projects across Egypt, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
The project underscores Egypt’s ongoing push to expand its renewable energy capacity and transition towards more sustainable power sources while meeting growing electricity demand.
