African Energy Week 2026 to Focus on Investment, Power, Energy Security

African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 is set for Cape Town, South Africa, from 12 to 16 October. Government officials, investors and energy leaders will meet to discuss investment, power, oil and gas development, and new technologies shaping the energy sector.

The event, which has Africa Energy Pulse as a media partner, is designed to give African leaders and private sector players a platform to discuss the continent’s energy needs and projects.

The programme will cover energy financing, oil and gas exploration, downstream development, electricity supply, renewable energy and infrastructure.

Financing and oil and gas on the agenda

Investment will be one of the central themes at the event. The Energy Finance Forum will examine financing problems facing African energy projects, while also looking at recent mergers and acquisitions and final investment decisions linked to efforts to address the continent’s energy gap.

Oil and gas development will feature prominently too. The Downstream & Petchem Forum will focus on funding opportunities and the development of the downstream energy value chain, while the Upstream E&P Forum will examine exploration and production activities in major African basins.

Individual markets will also have an opportunity to present their priorities and projects through the Country Spotlights. Senior policymakers, regulators and energy leaders will take part in the AEW Town Hall, where they will discuss the wider direction of Africa’s energy sector.

Power supply and new energy systems

Electricity and the infrastructure needed to support Africa’s growing energy needs will feature prominently in the Powering Africa Forum. Discussions will cover grid expansion, renewable energy integration, public-private partnerships and efforts to improve access to electricity.

The Energy Additions Forum will consider how African countries can develop their oil and gas resources alongside renewable energy as they pursue lower-carbon growth and greater energy security.

Renegade Intel will look at the wider policy and infrastructure environment, including baseload generation and strategic assets that could influence national energy systems, industrial development and digital sovereignty.

The event will also feature the African Energy Awards & Gala, recognising achievements across the energy industry.

AEW 2026 will run a multi-track programme led by African governments and private sector leaders, with discussions ranging from new projects and financing to technological innovation.
